I have recently decided that using a naming convention such as category:name was very cumbersome and the pages didn't look very clean. The categorization should be handled using [[Category:Category Name]] and the pages end up looking much nice. Its just important that all new pages be given a category.
Remember, pages whos templates do not yet have the category part yet built in can still have additional category's added to them.
